2013: Races and Triathlons

1/1/13:  Commitment Day 5K (3.1 miles):  OK, there was no denying that it was cold!  With temps about 25 degrees, my toes were pretty numb for most of the 3 miles.  A couple of hills but still managed to do okay -- TOTAL TIME:  32:12

1/6/13:  St Peter's Rec Plex Indoor Triathlon #5 (300 yards swimming, 10 miles biking, and 3 miles running)  The run felt fantastic!  I am not sure what I was doing differently but whatever it was, it worked!  (300 yards swimming, 10 miles biking, and 3 miles running):  6:35 + 19:58 + 30:58 (and transition times) = TOTAL TIME: 1:01:22

2/9/13:  Jewish Community Center Long Course Triathlon:
  • Swim 750 yards (15 laps) in an indoor pool
  • Bike 18 miles on a spin bike
  • Run 5 miles on a treadmill
I felt like this race felt good -- and I don't say that very often!  The run was the best I have had in awhile -- I never stopped during the 5 miles and, in fact, kept increasing the speed as I went along.  My final time still put me in the last spot for women in my age group but I am happy with it:  TOTAL TIME:  1:58:10

2/10:  St Peter's Rec Plex Indoor Triathlon #7 Long Course (500 yards swimming, 15 miles biking, and 5 miles running)   This was the first time that I did the long course, which I did after doing the long course at the JCC the day before.  So I can only hope that my times will get faster with this!  :D  TOTAL TIME:  1:40:30

2/17/13:  St Peter's Rec Plex Indoor Triathlon #8 Long Course (300 yards swimming, 10 miles biking, and 3 miles running)  The times haven't been posted yet but I know that I was somewhere around 1:38, about 2-3 minutes faster than the last week.

3/3/13:  Indoor Triathlon Carondelet Park YMCA (500 yards swimming, 9 mile bike, and 3.1 miles running)  Here were the times for all three parts: 11:40 (swim), 17:30 (bike), and 31:04 (run) for a total time with transitions of 1:02:32.  I was fourth in my age group (yeah!) and 27th overall (our of 56 people).  I will take it!

3/10/13:  Quivering Quads Trail Half Marathon (13.1 miles through Quiver River State Park!).  Well, I have a blog post for this traumatic race so I will just leave this with a time:  Total Time: 5:38:11

3/24/13:  Run for 21 Relay Race (Half-Marathon):
Cancelled because of snow

3/24/13: St Peter's Rec Plex Indoor Triathlon #10 Long Course (300 yards swimming, 10 miles biking, and 3 miles running)  Cancelled because of snow

4/21/13:  Go!  St Louis Half Marathon (13.1 miles)  Well, i was seriously expecting worse because my left foot has been giving me so much trouble (small hairline fracture).  It was all good until about mile 10!  Total Time: 2:36:21

4/14/13: St Peter's Rec Plex Indoor Triathlon #11 Short Course (300 yards swimming, 10 miles biking, and 3 miles running) Swim was 6:33, bike was 20:49, run was 34:37 so ....  TOTAL TIME:  1:06:15

4/20/13:  City Mayhem Obstacle Course:  I had fun doing this with Sarah and company!  We had a gorgeous day and some of the obstacles were a lot of funny (though I would not be too disappointed to miss out on ever carrying a brick around for a long time!)  TOTAL TIME:  52:48

4/21/13:  WORKED AS A VOLUNTEER AT THE EADS BRIDGE DUALTHLON!

4/28/13:  Try Tri Super Spring Triathlon at SIUE (150 meter swim, 10 mile bike, and 2 mile run)  This was a fun, well-organized race.  The run portion was tough but I had a great time.  Swim time:  5:51:40, Bike time: 37:07:05, run time: 20:53:20 so along with transitions my time was TOTAL TIME:  1:07:12

4/28/13: St Peter's Rec Plex Indoor Triathlon #12 Long Course (300 yards swimming, 10 miles biking, and 3 miles running)  Not sure what my final time was  :<  (this date was  never posted)

May 19, 2013:  Gateway Triathlon (at Carlyle Lake) (500 meters swimming, 20K bike, 5K run):  This was my second open water triathlon (and my first in a wet suit!).  I had a blast and I was so excited that Tanya was able to come from Washington state and be a spectator!  swim time: 16:27; bike time: 45:25; run time: 40:01.  So with transition times here is my TOTAL TIME: 1:48:33

June 16, 2013:  Spring Triathlon at the St Peter's Rec Plex (500 meter swim, 21 miles on bike, and 5 miles running)  This race didn't quite go as expected for the folks behind the event -- lots of flooding so the race folks had to redo the bike course.  BUT, a bunch of us (including me) missed the turn-around and ended up doing a little extra.  But here are the individual times:  13:43 (swim), 1:15:33 (19 miles), and 52:12 (4.7?-ish run).   With transitions, my total time was 2:21:28.

AUGUST 24, 2013:  Lake St Louis Triathlon:  (.25 swim in the lake, 12.3 on the bike, and 2.5 running!)  This was my second time doing this race!  I love the folks and it was great to see so many Tri Club peeps out (and cheering me on!).  A gorgeous day (though it was a wee bit hot). Swim was 12:22, Bike was 43:59, and Run was 27:19.   TOTAL TIME: 1:28:25

SEPTEMBER 15, 2013:  Millstadt Biathlon  (5 miles running and 22 miles on the bike)  I have done this race at least once or twice before and it was just as I expected -- a good time!  I had some tire pressure issues but at least it wasn't raining!  :D  TOTAL TIME: 2:27:41 (last in my age group!)

SEPTEMBER 29, 2013:  Fall Triathlon at the St Peter's Rec Plex (500 meter swim, 21 miles on bike, and 5 miles running)    TOTAL TIME 2:24:50

November 3, 2013:  St Peter's Rec Plex Indoor Triathlon Series Race #1 (swim 300 yards, bike 10 miles, and run 3 miles):  My goal is to do all of these this winter (12 in the series, I think!).  TOTAL TIME:  1:03:06

NOVEMBER 9, 2013:  The Skippo (10 K Trail run at Castlewood State Park):  Wow!  What fun!  It was a gorgeous day and I loved every minute of this race (even that darn hill just after the creek crossing!).  I am definitely going to sign up to do this next year!  TOTAL TIME: 1:20:56

November 17, 2013:  St Peter's Rec Plex Indoor Triathlon Series Race #2 (swim 300 yards, bike 10 miles, and run 3 miles)  TOTAL TIME: 1:01:45

DECEMBER 8, 2013:   YMCA Carondelet Park Rec Indoor Triathlon (500 yards swim, 9 mile bike, 3.1 mile run):  This was a tough race (I hated the spin bike!) but I got to do this race with Mandy so it was fun!  TOTAL TIME:  1:06:11

DECEMBER 15, 2013:  Hot Chocolate St Louis 15K (9.3 miles):  It was a super cold day but (1) it wasn't so bad once the race started and (2) I got to run with Sarah and Teresa!  :D  TOTAL TIME:  1:51:58  (about a 12 minute pace so not bad for 9+ miles!)

December 15, 2013:  St Peter's Rec Plex Indoor Triathlon Series Race #3 (swim 300 yards, bike 10 miles, and run 3 miles):   This was my second race of the day and I am impressed that I was able to successfully complete both events!  This time my swim time was 6:45, my bike time was 30:31 and my run time was 33:54.  I felt pretty spent by the end but I love that feeling of working hard!  TOTAL TIME:  1:06:00

UPCOMING RACES:
